Representative Jared Polis and his colleague Earl Blumenauer unveiled a plan to end the federal cannabis prohibition.
Rep. Jared Polis
This will be the first such legislation introduced since voters in Colorado and Washington broke new ground by voting in November to legally regulate cannabis similar to alcohol.
Lobbyists say the battle that is brewing over drug laws will be far-reaching and not confined to recreational use of cannabis.
“You’re going to see reform on federal drug policy in general,” proclaimed BillPiper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance. “It’s not just about marijuana. It’s about racial disparity, over-incarceration and saving money as well.”
Rep. Earl Blumenauer
Apparently Capitol Hill is somewhat observant in respect to the attention that this particular subject has received as of late.
Ethan Nadelmann of the Drug Policy Alliance and Kevin Sabet, formerly with the drug czar’s office, go head to head over this very issue in a short debate on Fox News. Enjoy the video clip and pass the dab tool. Please excuse my brevity.
